DPS Skis replaced a manual pro-program workflow with a modern membership system

“Alliance Pro has helped us create a more professional experience for our members while significantly reducing administrative work for our team. The team was responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping us build a program that fit our business—not forcing us into a one-size-fits-all solution” - DPS Skis

DPS Skis was running a successful pro program, but the workflow behind it had become too manual to manage well.

Their previous setup relied on Shopify Scripts, customer tags, inbox-based applications, and manual review. It worked, but as the program grew, DPS needed better visibility into who was active, who was eligible, and when members should renew.

When Shopify Scripts were set to sunset, DPS needed a replacement that could move quickly without turning into a large custom development project. They wanted a practical system that worked with Shopify, supported multiple pricing tiers, connected with Klaviyo, and gave their team a cleaner way to manage members day to day.

Alliance Pro helped DPS move from a manual tag-based workflow to a managed membership system. The team migrated thousands of existing members, built multiple pricing tiers, automated renewals and communications, and gave their customer service team a much faster way to review and approve applications.

Just as important, DPS had support through onboarding and setup. The Alliance Pro team helped them shape the program around their business instead of leaving them to figure out a complex migration alone.

About DPS Skis

DPS Skis is a Salt Lake City-based ski brand known for premium, carbon-construction skis and a deep focus on product innovation. Founded in 2005, DPS helped shape modern powder and freeride ski design, and today offers a full range of skis spanning powder, all-mountain, touring, and frontside categories, including the all new Pisteworks carving collection. DPS designs, builds, tests, and finishes its skis under one roof near the Wasatch Mountains.

The company is built around a team of skiers, engineers, craftspeople, and athletes who are closely involved in product development. That makes its Pro Program especially important: DPS serves a community of serious skiers and industry professionals who need a clear, reliable way to access member pricing and stay connected to the brand.

The challenge

Before Alliance Pro, DPS managed pro pricing through a custom setup built on Shopify Scripts and customer tags.

Applicants filled out a form, the submission landed in an inbox, and a customer service rep manually reviewed the application. From there, the team would follow up for missing details, create or update the Shopify customer, and apply the correct pricing tag.

That process created a few problems:

  • Application review required too many manual steps.

  • Pricing tiers were managed through customer tags.

  • Renewals and expirations were difficult to track cleanly.

  • The member roster needed a better way to stay current.

  • The team had limited visibility into who was still active and eligible.

DPS also had a clear deadline. Shopify Scripts were being sunset, so the team needed a better system without waiting on a custom build.

Why DPS chose Alliance Pro

DPS evaluated several pro-program options and needed a solution that could cover the full membership workflow without adding unnecessary complexity.

Alliance Pro stood out because it was built specifically for this kind of workflow: applications, approvals, memberships, pricing tiers, renewals, and communications in one place.

It also fit the tools DPS already used. Alliance Pro integrated with Shopify and Klaviyo, supported CSV member import, and gave DPS a way to launch without needing custom development for the core program setup.

“Alliance Pro has been by far the easiest to implement and manage. The platform is intuitive, highly customizable, and integrates seamlessly with Shopify and Klaviyo.”

What changed

DPS migrated thousands of existing members

DPS exported existing pro members from Shopify by customer tag and imported them into Alliance Pro by CSV.

That gave the team a faster path away from manual tags and into a proper membership system, without forcing them to rebuild the program from scratch.

The team refreshed their member roster

The migration also gave DPS a chance to refresh the roster and re-engage active members.

Instead of carrying forward a legacy list indefinitely, DPS could invite existing members back into a cleaner workflow, update member information, and create a stronger foundation for renewals going forward.

Application demand showed up immediately

After importing members and triggering the invite flow, DPS saw activity right away.

Before the team could even get back to the page, 15–20 applications had already come in. By the end of the first day, DPS had received around 160 applications.

The response made it clear that the pro program was still highly valuable — it just needed a better system behind it.

Approvals became much faster

Before Alliance Pro, reviewing and approving a pro applicant could take around five minutes. The customer service team often had multiple browser windows open to verify details, update Shopify, and apply the correct customer tags.

With Alliance Pro, approvals became effectively a single click.

That made a meaningful difference for the person managing the pro list day to day. Instead of moving between systems, DPS could review applicants and keep the program moving with far less manual work.

Support that fit the business

For DPS, the product was only part of the experience. Support played an important role in helping the team get from setup to launch with confidence.

During onboarding, DPS relied on the Alliance Pro support team for guidance and implementation help. The team worked with DPS to understand how their pro program needed to function, helped them configure the setup around their business, and stayed responsive as questions came up.

That support mattered because DPS was not just turning on a new app. They were migrating an existing program, bringing over thousands of members, setting up multiple pricing tiers, and making sure the experience worked for both members and the internal team.

DPS highlighted this as one of the strongest parts of the experience.

“What impressed us most was the support team. They were responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping us build a program that fit our business rather than forcing us into a one-size-fits-all solution.”

That support helped DPS launch with confidence and avoid getting stuck in the weeds during setup.

The result

Alliance Pro helped DPS replace a manual, tag-based pro pricing workflow with a modern membership system built for Shopify.

The team migrated thousands of members, launched multiple pricing tiers, automated renewals and communications, received hands-on onboarding support, and significantly reduced the admin work required to manage the program.

For DPS, the biggest win was simple: their pro program became easier to manage internally and more professional for members.

“Highly recommended for any brand looking to run a modern pro, industry, ambassador, or military pricing program.”
